Instructions
Follow these simple steps to create your own batch of crunchy fried shrimp:
- Prepare the Shrimp:
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Toss them gently to ensure they are evenly coated.
- Set Up Your Breading Station:
- Place the flour in a shallow dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and water until well combined.
- Spread the panko breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
- Bread the Shrimp:
- Dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured shrimp into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Roll the shrimp in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the shrimp.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet or deep fryer, filling it to about 2 inches deep.
- Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.
- Fry the Shrimp:
- Carefully add the shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry each batch for about 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the shrimp from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Serve:
- Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter.
- Garnish with lemon wedges and serve with tartar sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
